At MassArt, one of my design classes focused on experimentation and open-ended prompts. For this project, we were tasked with creating a poster series and exploring how they could be experienced within a space. I sought to artistically interpret key yoga concepts to both inform and inspire viewers, while also exploring how practitioners might physically embody these ideas.

The three posters—Comfort in Discomfort, Detach, and Breath—are designed in long, vertical formats, mimicking the shape of a yoga mat. The typography becomes part of the composition and complements each theme, encouraging viewers to engage more closely with the work.

Performative Posters

The posters were displayed in a yoga studio, and practitioners were asked the following questions:

Which yoga pose resonates with each poster?

How does your breath shift when you embody a theme?

How do you express a theme both individually and as part of a group?
